Build Notes: CopilotCopilot

by Becca | Oct 11, 2026

CopilotCopilot (name is tongue-in-cheek) is an AI-powered Microsoft Copilot and agentic AI intelligence dashboard and feed.

I started working with a Fortune 200 client earlier this year when I was brought in to create a product strategy and roadmap for Copilot. As it turns out, it's very difficult to do such things for a product with a roadmap you don't own or influence. I discovered through my sleuthing that Microsoft communicates change through at least 16 different channels, including two primary sources: Microsoft Message Center and a public roadmap. Note that no client or employer data was shared in the making of this prototype: I used my own Microsoft account/credentials from the Microsoft for Startups program (side project), my own machine, and my own Lovable and other AI tooling accounts. These are core principles for how I build such things.

The Message Center UI is not where I want to spend time, so I built something customized to help enterprise product managers whose companies are on the receiving end of frequent feature deliveries and changes. Sometimes new features show up enabled by default and teams have to scramble to turn them off. And sometimes there aren't admin controls to do so.

I built a living system that can help teams ingest, make sense of, and be more responsive to changes like this.

Tech Stack (AI-generated lists by Claude Code)

  • Frontend: React 18, TypeScript, Vite, Tailwind and shadcn/ui (built on Radix). Also TanStack Query, React Router, Recharts, frappe-gantt for the roadmap, react-markdown with DOMPurify, and jsPDF with html2canvas for export.
  • Backend: Supabase Postgres and about 14 Deno edge functions. There's also one Vercel serverless function, the password gate, which sets an httpOnly cookie.
  • Scheduling: Supabase Cron (pg_cron and pg_net), with tokens kept in Supabase Vault. Cron jobs run the promotion recommendations, the agentic-capability classifications and the weekly digest.
  • Data pipeline: n8n signs in to Microsoft with OAuth and pulls Copilot Message Center posts from the Microsoft Graph API every 8 hours. It also pulls Copilot items from Microsoft's public M365 Roadmap feed and appends new summaries to a Google Doc. A daily sync-summaries edge function copies those rows from the external Postgres database into Supabase.
  • AI: The Anthropic Messages API, using Claude Haiku 4.5 for summaries, chat, risk assessment, ADKAR promotion recommendations, decision-tree recommendations and classifications.
  • Email: The weekly digest sends through Gmail SMTP using denomailer. It's still uncommitted, and PRD.md lists it as paused.
  • Hosting and tooling: Vercel and the Vercel CLI, the Supabase CLI, Vitest, Testing Library, Playwright and ESLint. Lovable was used for the early prototype, through July 2026. Brand marks are from Simple Icons (CC0 license).
  • Claude Code is now the preference for updates

Copilot Feature Status

  • Stack: Vite, React and TypeScript, with no backend. The data lives in versioned JSON files, and the page also uses one Vercel function for the password gate.
  • Accessibility: axe-core runs through Puppeteer on every npm run verify.
  • Research: A Claude Code command, commands/refresh-research.md, runs the monthly fact refresh. It produces a proposed diff, and a person approves every change.
  • Data sources: Facts come from public Microsoft sources and each one cites its source. The seed data started as an Excel feature matrix, and the repo includes a Power Platform build guide with CSV seed templates.

App Layout (back to the human writing)

There are four primary cards/sections of the application.

Copilot dashboard home page with four tool cards (What’s New and Planned, Feature Status, Internal Roadmap, and a “Do I Really Need an Agent?” decision tree) plus reference links to Message Center and the Microsoft 365 Roadmap.
